Awards
Park View FC once again graced the GFS End-of-Season Awards Ceremony, by turning up in numbers and picked up almost every single award available on the night. The awards ceremony only held for the second time was at Silver Spoon, Azure House in Wembley on Saturday 2nd December 2006.
The beautiful occasion started with an introductory speech from the GFS Chairman – Mr Peter Nuamah. In his speech he thanked the clubs for their immense contribution towards the success of the season and outlined plans for next year. He mentioned the possible increase of participating teams from the current six to ten teams if all negotiations go well next season. He also touched on the forth coming African Cup–UK and Inner City World Cup to be held June next year.
The Guest of Hounor – Mr Kweku Owusu Frimpong was then introduced to commence the awards presentation. Francis Williams, also known as Junior, was first to be awarded the GFS League Top Goal Scorer Award ‘Golden Boot’ for his fantastic goal scoring abilities during the season. On receiving the award he thanked his teammates and managers for their support and promised more fire works next season. The nearly 40-man squad from Park View FC where then called individually to receive their medals.
Finally Kofi Oti-Atakora (Captain) was handed the giant trophy, which he lifted to an enormous eruption of cheers and excitement from his teammates. Kofi, who is also known to his peers as ‘capito’ or ‘Doc’ (for his medical background), thanked his colleagues and warned them of not becoming complacent but rather staying focus on the hectic season ahead.
Mr Kweku Owusu Frimpong finished his presentation with the closing speech congratulating all the recipients of awards and those present for their success, hard work and dedication.
He announced his intentions of a joint effort with GFS and his sports consultancy to organise a few games against some of the top clubs in Ghana.
GFS Chairman - Mr. Peter Nuamah, finally thanked the Guest of Honour, all invited guest and clubs present for their support.
Kennington FC also picked up the GFS Fair Play Club Award, introduced for the first time this season. Mr Leon Stallon Chairman of Kennington FC received the trophy.
