news Francis Williams (Junior) with the Golden Boots

Junior the GOAL KING - Dec 2006

Park View’s top class striker Francis Williams received the GFS League Top Goal Scorer Award for the first time at their End-of-Season Awards Ceremony, held at the Silver Spoon, Azure House in Wembley on Saturday 2nd December 2006.

Francis Williams, also known as Junior, was awarded the ‘Golden Boot’ trophy for scoring 11 fantastic goals in 8 games, averaging more than a goal per game. His season started off very well after a smooth transfer from Republicans in the October 2005 free-transfer window. He joined his new teammates at the beginning of the season on the 15th of January 2006 for their first pre-season training session and settled in very well after reuniting with some of his old youth club teammates: - Kofi Oti-Atakora (Captain), Kingsley Amankwa and Emmanuel Adu-Boffour (a.k.a Pele). He also expressed a lot of excitement to have joined some of his great idols, Princeton Owusu-Ansah, Charles Allotey and the rest of his new squad whom he had played against just the previous season.

Junior started off his season converting 2 early penalties in the 2-2 away draw against Kennington FC in Park View’s first game of the season, kicking off a great run of results with him scoring in almost every game. He scored all 3 goals in the 3-0 home win against Soccer Stars FC (Harlesden), then went on to score the first goal against his former club, Republicans FC in the biggest home game of the season. The North-London local derby, which ended 3-1 in favour of Park View, had everything you’d wish for in a great football match.

He also scored a goal in the 5-1 home win against Kennington FC and scored the only Park View goal in the 2-1 loss to Soccer Stars, in the return game at Wembley. He then graced Park View’s season with 3 brilliant goals including arguably the best goal of the season (second goal) in an emphatic 3-0 victory over Hackney FC in the last game of the season. His immense abilities in terms of scoring goals, support play, power, speed and skills certainly contributed to Park View winning the league once again and to lift the GFS Premiership Trophy for the second time in 2 years.
