Third time UNLUCKY… Mission IMPOSSIBLE !!!
The old Sheriff falls to the quick draw of the young gunslinger. The ever-dynamic Yaram Arts FC confirmed their intensions in a magnificent 4 – 1 win over a jaded yet die-hard, two-time league champions, Park View FC. They proved they were here, not just to be part of the show but to be the show.
The sunny day kicked off with an entertaining first game, Hackney FC against Republicans at Hackney Downs Park, it ended 3 – 1 in favour of Republicans. The second game, Park View versus Yaram Arts, the decider, was to kick off at 3 pm but was delayed due to the late kick off of the first game. At 3:30 pm Referee Dave blew his whistle only for the heavens to open with a heavy down pour just as the match kicked off. 25 seconds later Yaram’s top striker and the league’s top goal scorer Koromally confirmed why he had more than a dozen goals to his name this season. He took a 20-yard pass on his chest and volleyed on the turn, loosing Big Joe who was marking him and goalkeeper Mohammed motionless to open the score line.
Park View having had such an early wake up call, lost their shape, concentration and discipline then went on a wild goose chase only to do exactly what they shouldn’t have done. That is to open up the game for such a skilful yet aggressive hard tackling side to capitalize on. By the end of the first half the floodgates had opened and the home team were already down by three goals to nothing.
The second half didn’t start any better when in less than 2 minutes Park View’s substitute goalkeeper Tanko considered a cheap goal from a direct corner kick which he poorly handled and flicked into his own goalpost for the forth goal. The battle was over at this point. Owusu Afriyie replaced Nana Kofi just 10 minutes into the second half. He injected some pace and experience into the game and no sooner was he on did Princeton leave. He sustained an injury to the forehead then went off for some treatment only to be replaced by Frank. Junior was also replaced by the young up and coming star Jevoy Blair (O’Daine) who found the net in the 85th minute from a beautiful pass from Owusu Afriyie to open his first goal account leaving the final score as Park View – 1, Yarams 4
