Hackney FC (3) v Park View FC (4)

17th June 2007
Park View came into the game confidently sitting right at the top of the table, having won six, drawn one and lost none. Hackney on the other hand had lost all seven games and were very determined to break Park View’s winning run.

Mr Howard was the Referee for the afternoon and his presence meant the game had to clean or else… you guessed right. Park View kicked off with a neat control and pass style, dominating proceedings to the pleasure of their fans. In less than no time a classic combination from Junior and Charles found Kofi (Captain) who fiercely struck home the opener just five minutes into the half. At this stage the game seemed certainly in the bag for the visiting team, well that’s what they thought. Hackney lead by Theo galvanised his side to equalise after a defensive blander by Kofi, Joe and Moses, which left the score as one all at half time.

The second half started with Hackney wanting to gain the upper hand, but Park View calmly stuck to their passing game plan while maintaining composure to have the better share of play. With the introduction of Bright and Richard to replace Afful and Agyemang respectively, they quickly started putting together some swift positional interchanges and in one such move the ball fell to KK who hit a powerful 25 yarder to increase Park Views lead to 2-1. Hackney equalised in less that 2 minutes as Theo hit home their second goal after capitalising on a defensive error from Frank and Moses.

Game On! Hackney’s third goal came in no time. A slow reaction by Princeton to clear the ball from defence saw Theo pounce instinctively on it and took a quick shot leaving Mohammed motionless. Theo had had his hat trick, Hackney were now in control and Park View were on the back foot for the first time after having taking the lead.

To the delight of the entire Hackney fans and the neutrals, Park View were losing a game which was considered a must win. The ball was then passed from the centre then back to defence and in a nice move, Princeton who felt solely responsible for the third goal single-handed marshalled an attack from defence, he passed the ball to KK who then squared it to Moses who saw Princeton still continuing his run, lay off a classic long pass to find Princeton who sneaked behind the last Hackney defender and toed the ball into the net. At three all Park View knew they had to close this chapter with a win and Mohammed who felt responsible for the first two goals urged on his team mates to take long strikes. A couple of such powerful strikes from Junior and Bright hit the cross bar to the disappointment of the Park View fans. As the final whistle got closer Mohammed kicked a very long ball towards Junior who kept his eyes on the ball then hit a non-drop to the far post displacing the goalie for Park View's fourth goal leaving the final score as Hackney – 3, Park View - 4
