After the Republicans 3-1 trashing at home, Park View knew this return game would be a grudge match and they weren’t let down at all. A high tempo game right from kick off, had Park View going all out on attack with a few signs of good fortune shown in the first few minutes.
Park View’s Allotey 10 minutes into the half was awarded a free-kick 30 yards from the Republicans goal line after being brought down. Copson took the spot kick exquisitely finding the net at the far post to the surprise of keeper who didn’t move an inch. The referee, in his wisdom disallowed the goal indicating he hadn’t blown his whistle. Park View reacted positively by lifting their game, piling on more pressure, which resulted in forced clearance for a corner kick. The corner kick quickly taking, found the head of the “little man” Allotey netting home at the near post the first goal of the match.
Republicans responded immediately with a weak strike relayed from a free kick, which was badly misjudged by Mohammed and ended up spilling the ball into his own net. An over elaboration from Kingsley at left back resulted in the loss of the ball to a Republican player who placed the ball close to Mohammed’s feet to find the net for their second goal.
All efforts to find Park View’s equaliser were futile and with Copson sent off for retaliation just 30 minutes into the first half saw his mates on the back foot. Princeton then suffered a hamstring injury so had to come off the second half, introducing Gerald to the right back position to release Rashid (a new signing) to central defence to support Big Joe. With the going getting very tough, Park View substituted KK for Julian, to assist Francis in attack. Allotey suffering from fatigue was replaced by Felix 30 minutes into the second half to score the equaliser from a lay off from Francis. Final result Republicans 2 - Park View 2
